Dr Tom Borody (1950-2025) – Another “Great Man” has gone…

Virtually all my patients, whom I  have treated for parasites, will have heard of Dr Tom Borody: a clinician, pioneer in the treatment of helicobacter pylori and one of very few to identify that some amoebas may not be as harmless, as believed, since their discovery in 1903. Tom has been an outstanding gastroenterologist, a pioneer in faecal transplant and a beacon of excellence in his specialised field. He had the courage to publish many scientific papers on these subjects, he has been honoured by his peers in NSW. I was fortunate to know him, from a distance, perhaps as a kindred spirit, able to totally focus on his patient, often thinking ‘outside the box’ (a gift, lost these days for sake of the 'cosy’ following protocols and guidelines).

But Tom’s legacy will remain with us for a very long time…..
